Default Wireless for a Dorm

I live in a dorm, where we are all provided with ethernet cable jacks. Seeing as mine is across the room from my desk in a horrible spot, what would be a good (inexpensive) router to get? It wouldn't have to have a very far range at all. It would be good if I could also use it off campus in a few months when I (hopefully) get my apartment. I really can't stand tangling my 25ft ethernet cable any longer.

Asus make cheap routers.

Just go to your local IT shop and what's available. All you need to really look out for it that it has a RJ45 Ethernet wan port and good security features such as lock down via MAC and WEP for encryption.

The cheap ones are much of a muchness.

I would recommended IPcop if you have an old PC just buy a wireless card and set it up. With this you good also give other dorm user safe and secure hotspot access.

Thanks for the suggestions. I really needed to know which had good security features, as there have been issues on campus with wireless and security.
