Default Dreambox not moving motor

My Dreambox (clone) was working fine but has now stopped moving the motor. I am using a PLI image. I have plugged the Dreambox to my Sky dish and it works fine. I have a spare box and it does the same. All I get on screen is the please wait while the motor moves sign.

I have contacted the guy that I bought the motor from and he thinks that it is a problem with the image. I don't understand how this can be an image issue as my 2nd box, which is never used, does exactly the same. I reckon the motor has gone kaputt.

Anyone got any ideas as to what is wrong?

Try a "goto 0" from the motor commands menu, if it returns to 0, do a hard reset of the motor.

If it won't move via the reciever, can you move it with the button on the motor ?

Tried 'goto 0' but nothing happened.

Also tried the button on the motor but nothing happened. The light on the motor is not showing red or green.

Make sure there is not a short in the cable or the cable is broken or cut or pulled out of the connection on the motor

If there's no light on at all, it isn't getting any power from the receiver. Check the cable. Also if you have a Sky digibox, see if that will power the motor, and see if you can turn it using the manual buttons.

If it works with the sky box, and not with the clone DM, (everthing else identical), then the Clone may be stuffed. It has been reported, that some of the 500s clones are of insufficient quality, and can't drive a motor. Though I have connected quite a few of them up lately and they seemed to work OK.

I changed the cable and now have a green light on the motor.

When I try to move the dish with the button on the bottom of the motor, the green light goes red and the dish doesn't move. I can't move the dish by using the Dreambox either.

I think that the red light means overcurrent, check the manual. Did you try both directions?

Page 5 of the manual

Orange light means over current/reach hardware limits

Hardware reset

Make sure the power from the receiver turned on. The indicating LED lights on
Drive the motor to 0 degree via the manual button
Probe the RESET button behind the bottom of the motor via a thin rod for 2 seconds. The LED blinks in orange colour. The reset process is ok while the LED is green. And the preset satellite table will be re-installed and the current position will be 0 degree. Please cut off the power for the motor first before any opertion.

I can't drive the motor to 0 as it won't let me move it manually or with the dreambox. I have done a hardware reset, the light blinks orange then goes green.

Can you try another reciever as Robbo suggests, that will tell you for sure if it's the motor or not.
