Default Converting garage into gym!

Hello all, I'm looking to convert my old garage into a gym. It has an asbestos roof which we need to remove, but I'll get professionals to do that.

I'm actually focussing on insulating the garage...

whats the easiest way?
Will it have soundproof properties (since I like loud music when I work out )?
How much room will the insulation take up? Whats the narrowest way to do it?

Basically i'm looking for a really thin insulating material that also soundproofs... Does this exist? If so could you tell me what it is?!

Thanks!

I'm assuming the interior walls of the space are finished and that you have proper covers for the wiring in the walls. if that is the case, then you can blo foam insulation into the walls. It will fill up every nook and cranny and will provide a nice measure of sound proofing for your gym as well.

If you need to finish the walls, then you can line the space between interior and exterior walls with a thick fiberglass insulation. There are several types that provide excellent sound reduction. Check with a home store in your area and they should be able to provide you with some guidelines on insulation that will help you out.

I had friends that just used this blo foam insulation and they love it. It was very easy to do from my understanding. I know when they were looking for stuff like this they ran across something called DB Block. Not sure eactly what it is but you could check that out.

I would love to have a home gym, but I don't know where I would park my cars if the garage was taken!

You know we have a garage but right at the moment it is packed with odds and ends. We cannot even get a car in it at the moment. Alot of our family seems to think it is a storage unit. Hopefully we can get it cleaned out this summer. Does anyone else have this problem of the garage being the catchall for everything you don't currantly need or use?

We allowed a bunch of empty boxes to get out of control in our garage, and before we knew it we had a mouse problem. Now we really try to keep it cleaned out.
