I am looking for a null modem cable so i can link my box to my laptop and upload a cdf channel list.My laptop has a male socket and my box a female socket,the cable i have got has got 2 male ends on it.I have looked online for a cable but the ones with a female and male connector seem to have nuts next to the female end which would stop it connecting to my laptop.Anyone any links to where i can get the correct one thanks.

you will probably find the laptop connection is a 15 pin vga port..not a 9 pin serial port, in which case you will need a usb to null modem cable

I already have one of those but i cant get my cdf file to load upto my box it keeps saying hardware not found even though i can view all the channels etc on m box via this cable on myy pc.

what you want is a rs232 male to female adaptor, you can get them off fleabay or maplins etc.

EDIT : thats if you have the correct nine pin connections

i think its something to do with the port settings on the software you are trying to upload the box with (voxer i guess?).... this has been covered many times before in earlier posts... also some usb/null cables needed drivers i think... il have a look around in some of the older posts

what windows are you using?

I am on vista and the cable came with vista drivers on a disk.

have a read of this... im on windows 7 and have a serial port on my pc so i cant try it for you, but im sure it will point you in the right direction to solving your problem

Com port problems????

When i look on my device manager i dont see anything with ports on it.I have the usb right at the bottom of the list but nothing with ports or even com ports on it.
