Default Major Laptop Problem

Hi there guys

I have a major problem with my laptop, when I start it up, it will only go to the windows screen then continually boot up!

Each time when it boots up, it will ask me if I want to start in safe mode etc...

God only knows what the problem is, but its a major headache as I have homework for UNI to do.

I do not know if this is a software or a hardware problem, as I have tried to put my xp disk in to fix it, and it will not boot from the cd.

I hope someone can help, and thank you for your help in advance guys, its really appreciated.

Kev

Hi Khamill

can you actually load windows in normal, as an option? A quick thing about the XP disk, have you changed the bios settings to actually read the CD first? you do this by entering bios.

Hi Keith

Thanks for your reply, do you mean enter the bios and select boot from disk, because its not even letting me do that

sound like a job for recovery console.

Try and start in safe mode. If it fails use the recovery console to diagnose the problem run a check disk also.

Seems to me that you have some spyware on that computer which is messing with the operation. I could be wrong, of course....

Since you have safe mode available to you, I would boot up using that and run spyware/virus removal tools, as well as any recovery tools as suggested.

Also, when did this problem start occuring for you? Did you install or remove any software?
