Default surboard and ntl advice

im in an ntl area and i was wondering if the sb3100 modem should work ok? does it matter if its an e or i DOCSIS model? as far as ive learnt a pure ntl area is I- international has anybody any idea?
i was interested in item number 110086615241 on ebay

if its the right modem, what else should i need- where could i get hold of a MAC address- a family member that has ntl paid subscription lives a few streets away so could i use their mac address or the one of their old modem they have that they dont use anymore after ntl upgraded it? or is this not possible as they are likely in the same gateway- i know someone that is ntl connected that lives a few miles away if i got their mac would that work? cheers for any help

Some 3100's are harder to netboot - and much harder to cable flash. Get the person a few miles away to scan for mac addresses on their connection, you'll then have a few to go with

are the sb4100i a better model or a 4200e ? also will the e model work in a full ntl area not ex -TW? cheers

In pure NTL they use "i" modems, you may be able to get an "e" to work with the right firmware. You can often find them on ebay with hackware already installed.
