Default Sky HD + Surround Sound

Brian, I have what is probably a simple question, so apologies, but I hope you can help!

I recently got sky HD. I then decided just today to set up my panasonic surround sound system that I have had in a box for a year! Problem is there is no HDMI port on the surround sound system.

Is there any way of getting HD quality picture when watching skyHD channels and also at the same time getting the surround sound? At present I have worked out that I can watch skytv (but not in HD) with the surround sound (via scart), or I can watch the HD sky channels without surround sound (using just the standard TV speakers).

Any help much appreciated! Perhaps I just need to buy a new surround sound??

As said, please post into the correct sections. I've moved your post into a more appropriate place.

What inputs are on the amplifier ? Does it have Optical ? If so use that from the Sky Box to the Amp.

Does the Sky box have phono outputs for the audio? as you could use those too.

Connect the audio connector (Optical preferred) of the Sky box to the amp and the HDMI from the Sky box to your TV, just select the HDMI channel on the TV when watching Sky.

Not as easy as using the Video switch in the amp but it does do what you want.
