Default Correct hook-up!

Here's one for the 'boffins' amongst us, I have for several years now had a 1m motorized dish/Technomate TM-5400+USB, a Sony DVD recorder, Humax Foxsat-HD, 46"LCD TV (only 2 HDMI) & a hi power top-end Hi-Fi system & 4 x Ditton 66s.
Now this lot SEEMS to work ok, but glancing through all the booklets that came with this stuff, each manufacturer states that antennas, component-leads, scarts etc. connect to their bit of equipment first & then on to the tv etc. Fair enoughski, BUT, is there a 'correct' or 'preferred' order of connection, i.e. Freeview antenna to DVD first, or Freesat box, or Technomate???
Same for component to TV, & scart etc. etc.!!
OK, so it all works, but could/should it be better??
The TV is about to be changed for a 46" Samsung with 4 x HDMIs, would I still need the scarts?

Wink Re: Correct hook-up!

No special order really my friend.
If it all works then great!
SCART is old cumbersome, and lame, so the less of them you have the better.
Some of my older kit still uses SCART.
The other week a friend gave me a VHS video tape to convert to DVD, and by default, I'm already geared up to do this at the flick of the remote.
I have a Joytech professional SCART router.
If you do use SCARTS, try to use OFC types, and gold plated for signal purity, and make sure the connections are fully populated. Especially pin # 8 which is the aspect ratio controller.
Some people cut pin 8 coz it can be a pain in the ass auto switching on other pieces of kit unwantedly!

Cheers....

You will only still need SCARTS if you have older legacy stuff, but I suspect that your new TV will still have them!

Connecting all these toys can be somewhat daunting, coz I have so many connected also.
You wouldn't want to look behind my AV system!
If you are happy with the way you have set it all up, and it works, then all is fine.
