Unhappy Help with wireless repeater

hey guys i managed to put dd-wrt on my d-link 615 D2 and flash it successfuly but im trying to put it in wireless repeater but cant do it for some reason.
I want to connect it to my mates router 2 doors away from me, he doesnt have dd-wrt installed.
If some one knows the steps plz help me out been lookin on google but no luck
