As a matter of fact Mark my nan developed the disease in the latter years of her life, yes I agree it's a nasty and awful illness but that doesn't mean the subject has to be taboo in all forms.
Anybody who has encountered it would agree that it can be 'amusing' at times even if it's only close family who find it 'funny' amongst themselves.
I'm sure you have found a laugh out of tragic situations if you're totally honest.
If the thread causes upset to anyone then I would be the first to apologise just as much as taking credit for raising a smile for others.
Political correctness is why this country can be a sad and miserable place at times.

Andy i have also had first hand experience which may explain my response and as you quite rightly point out there are times of amusement untill it really digs and the hard work begins but there's a time and a place imo.
P.S I wont even start on political correctness all we could be here all day
