Hi,
firstley I dont know a thing about laptops, im asking this question for my daughter, her lappy was working fine untill yesterday when she went to switch it on & nothing ! no flash screen nothing, all she gets is the red power light does light up and thats it apart from a whirring sound as though it is about to boot up. Any ideas lads plz Cheers Mick footnote my daughter has just phoned & said the boot flash screen has just come up but thats it just stays on that. Last edited by ritzema; 27-05-10 at 07:17 PM. |

I'm far from an expert mate so if anyone's got better suggestions I'd follow them.
If it goes to the boot screen she should have the option to change the boot order, ie instead of booting from the hard drive it can boot from the cd/dvd & if she's got the Windows disc for it could maybe try the 'Repair' option. Kinda sounds like the hard drive's gubbed though, hopefully not. Good luck, HH. |

Check the hard drive is fully connected, they can come loose if banged or loose to begin with.
It is usually under a removeable panel at the base of the laptop. Is there a message like press F8 to show start up? This bypasses the flash boot screen and shows what's being loaded, it can also show if the memory is being checked. |

When got there , try a system restore to a date last week when it was fine , she may have picked something up when browsing and laptop is weary of it. |
