Default Epson printer hard disk

Hi
I have an Epson C1900 laser printer. I have only just realised that it can take a hard disk as an option.
Does anyone know why they are so expensive, over £400 for 6Gb , I have a spare one of these in my draw at home. The interface, on the printer looks odd though, too small to be normal IDE and too big to be SATA.
What is the main benefit of a hard disk anyway, will it do instead of a memory upgrade? (Also very expensive relative to "ordinary" PC memory)
Hope you can help

OK, after looking into this i thought it may be for memory cards to save stuff. This is not an option. It seems your printer does not take any memory cards, although you can upgrade its own memory up to 1 GB using sd ram. The option is a 2½" hard drive as used in laptops. Since its usb and network capable, with only 600 dpi, save your money and take the wife out for a posh weekend. I hope this helps.....

Well it certainly helps "the wife" she's delighted !

As I said I already have an old 2.5 inch 6Gb hard disk which I could use but I don't recognise the interface where it connects to the Epson main board. I have put some old SD memory in the printer, it now has 160 Mb, this doesn't seem much but it is 5 times the original 32 Mb as supplied by Epson so all's well.

Unless you have an office sharing a printer, you dont have any need for additional memory. Just use it as is..... Dan.
