Default Which LNB do I clamp for astra hotbird set up?

Hi,

I'm new to all this and just setting up a technomate 5100 with an old 60cm Sky dish.

I've bought a Alsat darkgold monoblock, but I'm not having much joy.

Attached to dish in same position as sky, assume it was 19.2 Astra 1 Sat, but not receiving any channels at all and signal strength is ~20%.

(Old LNB was 15 or more years old and when plugged in gave some BBC Channels, so Technomate is working well.)

Have I clipped it to the wrong LNB? Currently clipped to the left LNB (when looking into the dish) with right LNB hanging free.

Anyone know? Does it matter? There were no instruction in Alsat box, so now way of knowing which one is A or B, or which one to put in the clip.

I have read A LNB should be hotbird and B should be Astra sat, but no idea which LNB's are A or B or which one should go in the clip?

Just looking for some help to sort this out, so that I can align it and learn some French and German.

Thank You.

Assuming that the dish IS aligned to 19E.

When looking at the dish face, the left hand LNB goes in the holder, the right one hangs off to the right

If aligned to 13E

When looking at the dish face, the right hand LNB goes in the holder, the left one hangs off to the left.

Not sure what you mean by 'clipping it to'

You must clip the monoblock into the LNB holder on the dish arm.

Yes, I think A or Diseqc port 1 is normally hotbird.

Oh, and if the dish is aligned to 28E (which I think it is), re-align it to Hotbird 13e or astra 19e

Thank you.

That is much clearer.

Going outside to have a look and to move the dish.

Currently trying to uncease it as rusted in place.

Thanks again.

an old sky dish is a 60 cm dish
mono-block lnb are made to work with an 80 cm dish
so don't expect it to work to its full potential
on a 60 cm dish

Yep, but they work well enough though, surpisingly, you will get all available transponders.
