never used a 500s or a 600s mate but would just go for the 600s if i was you.

or why dont you just buy the Open media 500cs as that works perffectly fine and its got a dual tuner

The om's arent imported any more Id get a dm 500 as a cheap receiver,a dm 600 if you want pvr or if you're getting a motorised dish,then a technomate instead

you can also record with a dm500, if you map a network drive on yor pc and mount it in the dm500

The only problem there is that you have to have your PC switched on at the time. Its probably better to either get a NAS drive or a DM 600

Yes that's true. I use my laptop when/if I want to record or download the latest epg for my 500, nas drive's are a little expensive but I might invest in one as they have lots of usefull use's.
