Below is a thread I posted on another forum three years ago.
4500 page views later, many people have since posted on the thread to report that they stopped smoking after reading reading Allen Carr's Easy way to stop smoking, so I thought I'd stick my neck out and repeat it here.... Quote:

It worked for me too, I only managed to quit for 2 years though and am just thinking about quitting again. I have the audiobook now aswell as the book. If anyone wants the audiobook ask me and I will mail it to you in mp3.

Whatever does the job, get smoke free. I used to smoke and I am so happy that I no longer do. And those that care about me are also pretty happy about the situation.

Yeah it is a filthy habit for you and those around you.I've been clean now for nine years.Previous attempts all failed, mainly because i usually tried after cigs went up in the budget. Then one afternoon walking to my house from the bus,up a slight incline, i stopped with two bags of shopping in each hand for a breather, a little old lady asked as she was passing me if i needed a hand
![]() ![]() That was a reality check for me. A week later i was on the patches and haven't even fancied one since.I'd highly recommend the nicotine patches, you still "fancy" a fag, but they take the edge off it. Another tip i was given was to hate them, treat them as an enemy, because your addiction to nicotine will find all kinds of reasons to get you back on the habit.Good luck to you quitters and persevere, you can do it Regards Cat |

Thankfully I never developed that habit. However, both of my parents smoked for many years. They've both quit now, my dad for about 20 years and mom about 15, but they both did it cold turkey. That couldn't have been easy, but I'm so glad that they have!
Great job for all of you that have quit! Congrats! If you're trying, you can do it!! |
