The only reason that it annoyed me was because before I could flash my dreambox(not recommended for beginners) from my netbook.

With the KV/SV etc..., you would have to physically take the plug, scarts, ethernet wire and the coaxial wire off
Then take it to a PC.
Then get your RS232 cable out
Then flash
Then connect back up to the TV. All this takes 10 mins or so. With my dreambox, I did it all in less than a minute

If KV made this box a linux one, whilst also allowing people to download firmware the old fashioned way, then flashing would be a doddle(not for beginners though!)
OR
they could have simply added a USB port, and called it a PVR, so that you could flash that way

All in all, it is like flashing a Eurovox, but I am miffed at them for not including a USB port over an RS232 port, if they didnt want to make the receiver a linux one

Well the KV (after speaking to the wife...lol) looks like the one for me...it is a shame about the usb, it would have been great to have that option for updates and pvr.

ok, 1 final question as now I am up in the £80 mark for a new cable box, is the KV A780 best stb out there....are there any alternative with PVR option?
