Question Eurovox Max Problem

Hi I am new to this type of box but recently got my hands on a eurovox max3 problem is it has died! When I first power it up the display shows a oblong made up of dashes for acouple of secs then nothing. I have searched this and other forums and have re seated the ribbons and checked for open caps and dry joints but visually everything seems ok. When I press the micro switch on the mainboard it again shows the dashes so I am presuming that the power is working? Anyone have any ideas? The person who supplied me with it no longer lives locally so returning it to him is not an option.
Many Thanks in advance

Hi thanks for the reply, I have not as yet tried this as I am at the moment trying to find a local supplier of a null modem cable and am not having much success (am thinking of going to an auction site), do you think it will take a flash? as it is not even powering to standby.

Thanks for the reply but I think that when this box is unflashed the dashes stay on the display and either the power led or the standby led is lit? As I have said tho I no nothing about these!! I am awaiting a null modem cable and will try to flash it.

Hi all just to update you and thank you for your input on this problem. I got my null cable and hooked the box up on first attempt it could not connect, I opened the eurovox and pressed the small switch inside and after which the box started to take the flash and is now working. Is this a common thing? as it appeared there was no power going to the box as I did not have any display or standby/power light lit after the initial couple of seconds of powering up.
Thanks again

Hi m8 my box was not dead but it was as tho it was only powering for a couple of seconds, when I first plugged it in the power light lit and some dashes flickered around the display then everything faded out and the box looked dead. I checked everything, ribbon cables, open caps and dry joints and found that if I pressed the little switch inside it repowered for another couple of seconds. I just connected it with my null modem cable and used DnUpMan to try to connect, it could'nt until I tried to connect and pressed the little switch at the same time, then it took the image and has been fine since! Hope this helps
