Tonight, I am enjoying a local dinner theater production of "Bye Bye Birdie". I was wondering if any of you live in places where dinner theater is alive and well, and if so, do you attend now and again?

To be honest, I've never really thought of dinner theater. I live in a capital city, so I'm pretty positive that if I looked around, I'd be able to find one. How was your experience? I think it would be a neat potential date for two.

It was great. This particular dinner theater is ran by the drama department of a local university. The food is cooked on site, served by kids in the department, and most of the performers are students. Of course, none of them are paid for their efforts, although the students do get credits for their work on the projects, and the univesity does not discourage the patrons from tipping the servers, so it is a great way to give a college student some extra spending money as well as have a nice evening out.
Dinner theater is great for a date, a double-date, or just a night out with a group of friends. And since with live theater anything can happen, you are always poised for the unexpected, which adds some spice to the evening. |

We have one but if we went we would have to get a hotel room. You know what this actually sounds like a good idea. I will have to see what is going on at ours. Thank you so much for the idea, this sounds like a lot of fun and I sometimes have no clue what to do to get out for a little bit.

Oh yeah, making a real evening of it by staying in a hotel and having breakfast in bed the next day sounds mighty good - well, depending on who happened to be with you LOL

I have heard of those type of audience participation things, but never had the chance to attend one. Is this where you get all dressed up and have all sorts of suspects that you have to filter through in order to find out who really did it? I think that would be a blast.
