can i get sky through a cable conection

hi all i am new to this but i am woundering where i start with getting sky on my pc and stream to the tv with virgin cable where and how can i do this if it can be done ty all for ur help.
i am sat here just with free view lol

no mate,cable is totally different to sky,there is a reciever that can do both i think but unsure which one,also nearly all current areas have gone nagra 3 on the cable side of things,so if its a freebie you are after its not going to happen.

Starview combo does both but it seems like its soon to become Obselete on cable side regarding the events in ireland.

All in all the sat side is totally different and would require a monthly subscription is one thing but also would require you to find a server to connect to first.


And if you want to stick to the cable side then get a KV A780.

I recently had to reinstall the operating system (Windows Vista) on my laptop. After a lot of trial and error I managed to download the right drivers and got a connection, however as soon as I take the yellow ethernet cable out the connection is gone. I can't continue using it like that, can anyone tell me how to sort it out ? We have another laptop and there's no problem with a wireless connection there.

your question makes no sense... So it would be nice if you could explain from the start in what it is your trying to do.

Then someone here can put an answer to your question... Stating the above makes no sense @ all and it just sounds like you writing a story book.

I would presume he's saying his lappy works fine with a wired ethernet connection but doesn't work on wireless !

If thats the case, then the lappy probably needs setting up with the proper methods/password/phrases to allow it to have wireless access.

the guys trying to get sky on his laptop so that he can stream the broadcast to his tv with virgin internet, but it will only work when he is hard wired not wireless, deeming the method unfeasible for his requirements
