Default Dreambox or Nokia Dbox 2-Please help a newbie

Hello.
My name is Hasan Khan.My ntl box was using a funcard but we all know they are blocked.
I want to buy another box but this time I want to choose from Dreambox C-500, Nokia Dbox 2,Starview or Eurovax. Its hard to choose because from the discussion in the forum, I understand that all three types of boxes receive all NTL channels+Asian Indian channels,Prem Plus. Correct me please if I understand it wrong.
Which one can provide PPV channels, and filmflex or on demand?
I see that most Nokia Dbox 2 are shipped from Germany(courtesy of ebay) in debugged mode? What you do if they don't work? They are priced around £85.
Dreamboxes are around £140. Why they are expensive? Does any of them know if any of these devices can record programmes and have their internal Harddisk.
Anyone knows if you can find them any cheaper from any other websites?
Could someone please tell which one is best and lasts longer.

Regards
Hasan Khan.

hi i have been wondering the same thing but after a lot of reading on this forum i myself would go for a dreambox 500 there is a lot u can do with this box so i am told,as with the eurovox i dont think u can get filmflex or movies on demand unless someone in your area orders it. I am new to this myself so if i am wrong i am sure someone will help the two of us.

Thanks 4 replying Topman.I shall wait 4 more people to express their expert opinions and experiences regarding this
Where would you buy your dreambox from? any ideas?I have read that there are several fake companies selling dodgy dreamboxes.
how dreambox 500-C is different to Dbox7020?Is it worth paying about £400 for 7020/7025?
Can some please tell me whether or not the dreambox 500 requires further updating and programming? If it doesn't have a card, I wonder how it will or can be programmed?
Regards.

hi new to this myself i think the dbox7020 and the 7025 are sat receivers the dbox 500 is a cable receiver, a good company that sells these boxes is hisat dealt with them before so i can recommend them ,as for programming the 500 you can flash a file onto the box i think either using a null modem cable or through an ethernet cable as i said i am new to all this myself so i am still learning .

I too have been looking into this.

I think im right to say the only dreambox that can open both SAt & Cable is 7025 twin tuner.

The only Cable DB is 500C but that doesnt open Sat.

However, i need to find out more on the 7025 as i have read although its a great box it doesnt have support for SAT viewing like cheaper model 7020 & under.

I would need an expert to confirm my finding are true.

Cheers

Ok.Thanks. I am convinced I am going to buy Dreambox 7025 with twin tuner. It is £399.00 on dreamboxshop.co.uk.
I have spoken to them on the phone and they say that when I receive it, I'll have to program it for cable. How do I program it to receive channels?
This box 7025 can record program and serve as PVR if you install a harddisk. What harddisk it will fit?Any ideas please? The above website has 300GB Harddisk for £150.That's expensive. Can't you buy a cheaper one from savastore.com or pcworld? Will their harddisk work in the dreambox?
Please reply.
Cheers
Hasan

i hear, the 7025 is not liked as much as the 7020 for various reasons, there is support but no way near the level of model 7020 and under.

My conclusion is, 7020 is the best "current" DB model for SAT use & the 500c for cable ONLY use.

I dont think you can receive both cable and Sat from the one DB.

topman, i dont know anybody with a DREAMBOX or anything CABLE, this info is only from what i have read and therefore we need an EXPERT to confirm.

My hobbie is the SAT scene with cams, programmers & smart cards, im looking to gain experience in the cable scene for a friend and should i move house where a 1m dish is not feasible.
