I think that you are mixing Vermin up with $ky.
It's $ky who charge a line rental (which gets paid to BT) on top of
whatever $ky package you have.
Vermin don't use the BT lines (it's underground cable) and when they say......

Currently, Virgin Media is offering consumers size L broadband, offering up
10 Mbps connection speeds, size M+ TV with over 65 channels and size M phone
service with unlimited weekend UK landline calls, all for £18 per month, with
the first two months free of charge.

Then that's what they mean..........I know, I've had all three for £20
for few years now, except that I talked them into 24hr free calls as well.

Well, if you read the page Build your own - TV, Broadband & Phone Bundles - Virgin Media

and choose the appropriate package.

It says £18 a month with a * next to it.

and then says "When you take a Virgin phone line for £11.99 a month"

So I would take that as a total of £29.99.

Very misleading if you ask me, they are trying to make out that their package is cheaper than it actually is.

One of the things that annoys me most about them is the charge (I think its £4.95) if you choose to call them and pay over the phone rather than set up a direct debit.

The payment is still an automated call so how can they justify it?

Its the small things that they add on that get to me.

2 months ago my Dads service was cut off so he called them up. They told him it was because he had not paid his bill. He had paid the bill and was able to prove it by bank statements. He was passed around from this person to that and eventually told that yes the bill had been paid and they would reconnect him.

Well guess what 2 days later, still no reconnection. He calls them back and they say again the bill has not been paid and he will have to pay a £10 charge for late payment. If he pays the bill now they will reconnect him and once they've sorted it out refund him if thats the case.

4 days, hrs spent on telephone calls with a company who appear to have a serious communication problem. And £10 charge for a bill that had been paid 2 weeks or so before.

It was eventually sorted but Virgin are crap and Branson's a robbing, greedy sod!

When it comes to Virgin Media, nothing is free!

Just my opinion from experience with them!

They've probably shown the price like that because that's what $ky do.
I was stopped by a $ky seller in town, so I just said 'I have cable'.
She asked me how much and I replied, "B/Band, Phone and TV for £20"
She said that $ky's was the same price........without adding that there
would be a line rental charge for BT.
So I suppose that to NOT look more expensive Vermin have adopted
the same practice.
I guess that they will start quoting the price WITHOUT VAT when it goes
up to 20% to make it look cheaper.

Yes that is what I guessed after thinking a bit. But I'm pretty sure Sky make a bit clearer than what VM do on their site.

Like all large organisations customer service can be good or bad.

I recently got an extra box in the bedroom and was most impressed with how thorough and professional the engineer was, he even ran a new cable from the road while he was there because the existing was giving 10db loss when it should have been about 2.

On the other side, a relative died recently, and the contract was being taken over by the daughter living at the same adress. But Virgin Fooked it up completely! by deleting all email addresses, and saying it would take a days to get them back. With a very rude customer service agent on the phone as well.

I believe that when you take a fully bundled Sky service that you do not pay anything to BT, you pay the phone line rental direct to Sky.
