If you are new, to this hobby, then you need a dish, and motor, to allow you to view all the available channels, on all available satellites. Once set up you select a channel and the dish moves to the appropriate satellite, or you select the satellite you want to view.

If all you want to do is view Sky, then buy a subscription, we do not discuss methods whereby you can rip off Sky UK.
i am new and i know about the motor etc, but once this gift goes can you still pick up channels from the satellites ? and what is this gift exactly?

Mate the gift has nothing to do with Sky UK, the gift will get you access to several foreign providers hence the need for a motorised dish.

Mate no I cannot. I have said enough here already. What your dad is doing is C/S which we do not discuss here, if the gift last for 12 months then its a bonus as its not costing you anything
