Default Vaillant turbomax

Hi. I have an intermittent problem with my Vaillant turbomax plus 824 that has me puzzled.

The central heating works fine all of the time. The hot water works fine most of the time but every now and then when I turn on the hot water tap what comes out is barely luke-warm. The boiler fires up as normal, and the temp on the boiler display rises as expected, but the water just doesn’t get hot.

This has happened maybe 5 or 6 times over the past couple of weeks and has lasted for up to a day at a time. I had the boiler serviced today (it was due for it) and the engineer couldn’t find any problems. It worked fine while he was here and worked fine all day, but the problem has just returned. Any ideas?

This sounds like the diverter valve is sticking in the central heating position and not moving when there is a demand for hot water - which is a common fault on the turbomaxes.

An easy way to check this is make sure the central heating is off and is cold. Turn on the hot water and then check to see if one the 22mm central heating pipes in getting hot. If it is then the diverter valve needs to be replaced.

hi
yeah if the diverta valve is working it pushes out a rod and that pushes against micro switch
sometimes this micro switch moves out of position and no contact is made
it did it on my old boiler which was a vailiant turbo max and i was scratching my head
you have then got to try and re line switch so it makes contact
hope this helps m8
