You can actually do other things with them if you really want to but its really down to your imagination. I used one to log into my PC and carry various certificates and stuff required to log into remote servers.

You've effectively got 4k of program space and 4k of non-volatile memory space you can do whatever you choose with. Using bugcatchers its pretty easy to take program control of the card and use it for all kinds of security stuff. You could make things like electronic door locks pretty easily......
