Default HD Combo flashing advice....

Morning peoples....

I've just reset my box to the factory default via the roll-back method(thanks to smoggy and clio1) and would like to be guided through putting the right firmware on the box.

Last time I did it I just dumped Carling on and it did not pick up a single channel. I live in an area whereby N3 has not arrived yet and isn't likely too for a bit so I have a working SV4 box.

Can anyone give me a list of which firmware to put on in order and when to do the factory resets, or direct me to a thread where it is listed?

I understand that you need to put an early version of grooverider on before putting on newer firmwares....where does one find this?

Any help would be graciously received.

Cheers

Urgh! I'm gonna turf this box out the window in a minute...
When i first got this box i plugged it into my virgin feed directly with no splitters. I got all channels but coulddd not view the scrammbled ones - as expected. I then put various firmwares on and could only ever find 1 channel when i searched in instalation.... Some BBC channel.

I rolled back the software to factory default from when i put carling on using the serial modem cable and have just run another channel search (expecting all channels to pop up --- all scrambled of course) to find only the same BBC channel only....! why will it not pick up any channels?
I am using no splitters, used various cables... and have a working SV4 through the same set up. NNN3 is not in my area yet so dont think its that.

Anyone who can help....? wish i hadn't baught this thing now.

Putting the Carling software on at this stage will have no effect until Nag 3 has been switched off in your area if you are connecting via Cable only. If you are connecting via satellite then yes you need to have the Carling software on.
If you have connected via cable you should get all the channels by doing a factory default and full scan using your old provider (ext C & W, NTL or whatever), if your SV4 can pick up all the channels then the SV combo will.

I've sorted it... used the null modem to completly reset the box put .0128 on followed by the boot file v0021. placed grooverider 0212 on followed by a hard reset and a factory reset. then scanned from 100hz-300hz initially and presto!

*NB* this only works if N3 is not in your area.

you will be missing a lot of channels if you only scanned to 300.00hz
try scanning from 100 to to 850.00 hz

at least I have a virgin subscription though, just means I have to pay virgin for an extra box for my room instead.
