allso this is a new 1 on me ive got a 250 here with moto software on it ? and cant get console unlocker to unlock it anyone else had this prob ?

I have an old NTL modem it's a little blue box measuring 10.5 Cm X 12 Cm. Can anyone please tell me how to identify it,I gather that it'd an Ambit but I've no idea what model?

You would only get the SB5101 firmware on there mate as the Ambit 250 firmware practically mimics the 5101. The easiest way around this is to have the TSOP lifted as said above, I cannot do this myself but i'm sure someone can. If you wish to try it yourself, I will sell my Willem Programmer which has a TSOP48 socket on-board.
