Arrow Cable Help

I've currently got a 25m run from the feed to my box and I think this is causing bad signal problems.

Is it possible to use a cat5 cable somehow?

Can you recommend any other solutions?

Thanks

you cant use a Cat5 cable mate... when you say that you have a bad signal can you please explain a bit more

Sounds like its BER problems that you having and not SNR issues

if the picture keeps getting pixelated then its BER issue. You Snr levels should be around 70 -75 %

if you have a splitter connected then I suugest you remove that and run a direct feed to the STB.

Also check all connecters and connections, including the cable as well.

Hi, thanks for the response.

I have the main feed with a splitter which goes to the modem, the other split goes into a booster which feeds 2 boxes. One is around 5m away and the channels are all ok, the other which is 25m struggles to pick up channels lower than 200MHz.

Towards 100MHz the channels are scrambled, around 150MHz they are distorted and the picture/sound doesnt stay. Then above 200MHz all the channels are generally working ok.

Is there any way to reduce the BER in my situation?

the box that you having problems with u need to disconnect all other boxes and then plug the box which you having the problem with a direct feed and then scan for the channels and see if you still have the same problems

Judging from what you said earlier it seems like you are having SNR issues and the way to increase that is all dependent on the booster which you have..

I used to use the Konig signal booster and I could adjust the slope and gain.

test it and post back

Ye I think it is a SNR issue.

I've got a cheap CATV Amp from China for about £10 on ebay, would it make a good enough difference to get a Konig one(Is that the 'Yellow Brick'?)?

The box works fine on a shorter run which is why I was wondering if cat5 would work.

The Konig one is the yellow brick... I am not sure which one you have but you would only know by testing it out first mate.

Thing is do you really wanna spend money on a signal amplifier when you know that all boxes will be a door step very soon.

Cat5 cable will not work as far as I know mate.

U have far to many boxes on your line and this is why you SNR levels have dropped significantly.

test the one you have and see if any difference otherwise I wouldn't recommend in spending more money when N3 is just round the corner.

Just to add did you test the thoery which I posted above regarding disconnection of everything thats plugged into the line and then plugging in the box which is causing you pic issue?
