Default how to take advantage of this

I turned on my computer and turn on my wireless, witch is a g wireless card and I was moving around the house with the computer seeing if I can find any connections open, well I happen to have found one but the signals very weak,so I decided to go out and get a belkin n wireless usb adaptor with hope for better rang/signal,but the signal to get on the internet is compleatly in a different place then if I was using the g wireless adaptor and Is infact alot woreser,so these wireless cards are pretty *****,so I think building a wifi recieve could be better, can any confirm on how good a home made wifi would be and which home made or highly rated wifi reciever to buy ?

thanks,

yeah I just noticed no wonder I'm not getting no replys.Could some one move this thread please...

An update though I'm going to build an antenna,It's strange though because I've been doing research about them, as you have a 6 dbi antenna and you have a 16 bdi antenna as well I read somewere that some lower dbi antennas are better then higher dbi antennas for local ranges.Strange you would think the higher the dbi the better.

I have a question....Once I get a signal sorted could I plug the antenna Into my old cut off modem and link the modem up to router and go from there, would this be possible,do I have to do anything to the modem for this to work?

thanks,

Yes, swapping the original little antenna with a large one that the hardware wasnt designed for can actually make it worse..

Google for "Parabolic Curve Wifi"

Then make your own, yea, it all looks a bit blue peter, but trust me, they do work, they work well, and work far far better than replacing the little 3dbi antenna on your nic or router with one of them hoofingly long omni 15dbi sticks.

(why aint this thread been moved yet, lol)
