Default Er20 on Pace 4001 box :( any solutions/fixes?

Our box has been playing up recently, last week it stopped working, and showed the er20 message on the front. We tried turning it off/on countless times, and playing around with the cables on the back but weren't able to get it working.

Then midweek we tried turning it on again, like magic it worked fine first time. Its been fine since then up until today when the box suddenly stopped working again, and the dreaded er20 again popped up. Has anyone managed to successfully fix a pace box with the er20 message?? Thanks in advance for any advice.

It would appear that the the fault is something to do with acquiring the correct Network ID. Have you checked in the EM and made sure that the Network ID, Symbol Rate, Frequency etc are all set as they should be for your area?

Thanks for the quick reply.. I cant seem to get into the EM, I turn it off at the power then turn back on and hold down the up and down buttons (on the box, not on the remote) but nothing. It just says er20 on the box and nothing on the screen. Am I doing it correctly??

Try holding the "down" button on the front of the box whilst connecting the power (keep hold of the button for a few seconds) and see if it boots.

I'm in work now but I'll try this when I'm home. Is there anywhere I can find out what the network id, frequency etc should be for my area? (I'm in Cardiff)

(Taken from here: List of Net Id's for Cable TV - thanks Lincsat ).

00004 = Net ID
755000 = Frequency
6887 = Symbol Rate

Thanks for the info. I've just got home and tried holding the down button as I'm powering it up but nothing happens, just shows er20 on the box and nothing on screen

Take the lid off and with box unplugged pull off the little red jumper next to the battery for a minute then replace, try that if it still doesnt work i would suspect no signal, check connections etc.

Are you a paying customer? If so, phone Virgin Media and they will come and fix it.

Yep I have done today, just wanted to avoid a lengthly wait for an engineer to come to the house. All good though, as long as its fixed/replaced for the upcoming football season I'll be a happy man! Thanks for the advice everyone
