You need to run the Console Unlocker, if it drops correctly the SYNC light will stay solid.

is there any extra drivers i need to get for the usb to serial adapter? it is a "prolific USB to RS232 covertor" i have changed the port setting to com 1 and all the ip settings but hyperterminal is blank...

when u click unlock keep an eye on the modem see if it reboots if it does then its a 256....if its not rebootin then check if u got it connected properly best way is use hyperterminal and if that picks it up then its connect if it dont its a connection problem hope this helps ya

Yeah, the Am(cho)bit tool tends to overreact a bit when the modem stops responding after the erase commands have been sent, generally if the CM terminal yields no output from your commands, you're not risking a brick, it's just not accepting commands... I had it warn people in that way because they don't listen and I had someone claim I'd killed two of his modems and ask for replacements once! [rant]In any case, I've not released a new one in some time, nor am I likely to do so as whenever I do I'm inundated with requests from people who either can't read documentation or just demand help with unconnected cable stuff as if I am google or their personal consultant![/rant] but if you have command line access to the modem, just select the ambit 250 then hit reflash bootloader and it'll do it, then (with the modem off stream) reboot with your max232 and the cm terminal (or hyperterminal) and just proceed as normal. TBH it sounds like the unlocker isn't, I've had that, I find it best to power modem, wait 10 seconds then hit the unlock button but that's just me... |
