Default sky+ record

first time stuck with sky problem [lucky?] ,have injured spine , so when changing tv stand and reconnected sky box , it will not now record on auto ,
if set to record ...no record
if watching program ,will record it ,but when changing channel ,recording stops.
althogh set on auto and no record ,the demand stays on the record display, so when you go to record something else it takes ages for previous demand to clear, also on auto record ,although 'R' appears ,after leaving record site and returning 'R' has dissapeared from display.
I used colour tape on box to match sockets before removal.
on meds , so may be missing something simple.
have tried shutdown for reset ect. upgrade my grown up childrens pc /laptops no bother , so this starting to annoy me
advice appreciated ,pace box 2 year old ,no trouble before.

still stuck with dam sky plus that does not record
I don't bother withtv at night , prefer my wife to have use tv as she wishes at night to watch womans programs, and I recorded programs to watch later sometime as I prefer online and pc chair is more stiff and comfortable just now.

Turn off the power to the Sky+
Then check the two screw-on plugs (F-connectors) that join the co-ax cables from the LNB (dish) to the back of the receiver.
There should be a decent copper centre core which goes into the hole in the receiver socket, and a braid screen which needs to make good contact only with the plug outer body, and must not have stray strands near the centre core.
Once you're satisfied they're good, re-instate power and see what you have.

Check the signal quality on both inputs using the settings menu.

problem fixed , noticed that I had changed 4 socket plain extention , for a spare multi socket pc anti surge extention , did a swap back to plain one and all now ok.
there must be something in anti-surge unit that affects signal , again thanks for jogging my brain.

Weird, but if that's what you did and it now works...

I am surprised at the very least. How did you get that to work?
