Default 2nd sky box

Hi guys,
This could be the easiest question you have ever seen on here but here goes.....

Ive got multiroom with the subscription but its just a normal box. I wat to change it to sky+. Ive inherrited a sky+ box so wired it all up and all seems fine. but i just get a message saying to call sky 'the card dosnt match the box' or something ?
Am I being over cautious by not ringing them and telling them what ive done or will they come take it off me ?

Any insite would be much appreciated.

Hi Geedog,
welcome to the forum.
You have to telephone them to re-match the card, just tell them your old receiver broke and you've replaced it.
Personally I've never bothered with Sky but I think the subject has come up before, try the search option, you should find a few threads on the subject, or wait for a Sky subscriber for confirmation.

Just ring them up and get them to sort it. Best to be in front of the Tv at the time, in case there's any details they need form the card or new receiver.

Does anyone know if this is as simple as Swapping the Boxes over (Standard Sky to Sky Plus HD Box) & phoning Sky to get the Viewing Card to pair with the Sky Plus HD Box as ive seen on a few adverts on websites & on ebay state :
Please Note : If you only have a single LNB on your Sky Minidish feeding a standard Sky box and you are upgrading to the Amstrad DRX890 Sky+HD box you will need to order the Quad LNB above and run a second cable to the Sky+HD box to use the Sky+ functions. If however you already have Sky+ and are changing to Sky+HD your existing LNB will be fine.

We are having a Sky Plus HD Box installed downstairs but will be having a Standard Sky Box installed in the Bed Room (Multi Room),so will i need a second cable installing to the Bedroom & i take it i wont need to have a Quad LNB as we should already have one of them for the Sky Plus HD Box donwstairs??..

Any hlep would be FANTASTIC..

Yes, if you already have a quad LNB, then you are sorted. Just make sure there are two runs to any Sky+ box that you intend using.

As robbo stated above that you need a quad lnb for defo due to the fact that you cant just use a splitter like you do with cable as with sky its all do with polarization etc etc

you need 2 cables because one is used for TV and other for recording from what I know.
