Default SKY Italia

Looking at the possibility of getting this in for my social club.

We have had cable till now, but that isn't an option any more.

Unfortunately we are in a bit of a catch 22 with SKY UK. We can't afford to get it, but can't afford not to with the revenue it brings in for matches.

So I have said to them that for the one off price of a grand or so for SKY Italia may be a good option.

I hve a few questions I wonder if anyone would be able to help out with.

SPL games. I know it will carry all of the Scottish games which SKY UK broadcast, will it also carry the one's shown on ESPN?

What size of dish would be required? We are on the West coast of Scotland, just down the road from Glasgow.

Any reputable dealers who could sort us out with the equipment? I have had a look on Southern Satellite but he doesn't seem to list it.

Finally, if we did go for it, would it be easy enough to set the dish up to point at Hotbird? I set a moveable system up for myself a few months back and I definately feel a lot more confident now...but with the moveable one you obviously start at your Southern Satellite, then the motor takes care of the tilt on the dish when it turns....so would I be able to point a fixed dish straight at 13E or would I need to twist/tilt it somehow?

Any advise appreciated

Has there been a ruling, then? Last I heard it had gone to either the Appeal Court or to the Euro version.

i honestly think that if it was for private home use theres no problem..still technically illegal...but getting it installed in his social club is a no no...if he just put in an ordinary private home sky dish and package in his local social club that would be illegal also...im sure if i am wrong i will be corrected

At the moment it's a grey area and will stay that way until there is a ruling. Certianly non EU subs are out, but EU providers are an option for pubs and clubs at the moment. I know a few pubs using EU subs without issue.

I would contact southern satellite directly as I'm sure he can provide it for you and advise you further. A 60cm dish should be adequate for your location.

also recently as of june 2010 Sky Italia will change its logo to the BskyB-Logo on June 28th 2010 [1] on behalf of a restructuring process on News Corp. All "Sky"-Stations will have the same Station Logo soon.

dont really know if that makes any difference... anyways if someone from sky calls into any pub or club and theres no pint logo on the screen id assume whoever owns the pub etc will get done

If they see you using an EU channel, they will ask to see the card, show it to them but don't let them read the number or they will arrange for the card to be killed. Until there is a ruling there isn't alot else they can do as far as I'm aware.

If your using a non EU sub, or obtaining the channels by c/s etc thats when you get done.
