Question Is my connection cut off???

I have tried so many different macs but i get no luck i keep getting the activation page. I got so pissed off that i brought my sister's modem and plugged it in so see if it works at my house. My sister is with virgin media so i thought i wont have any problem connecting it at my house, but when i did it didnt work. The sync light is solid and the ready light flashes constantly.
Is there something wrong with my connection, is that the reason why my modem isn't working.

Hopefully your physical connection to cable has been removed at the cabinet.

its quite possible you have been disconnected but if your getting past the synchronisation pages that can only happen if the feed is live.Checking with your sisters may not necessarily work it would depend on your UBR & CPC,this was discussed in another thread. If you can get it passed scanning and to sync its most probably a mac problem and make sure your BPI is set to 1.0.

If you are using Infinite (I take it you are if you are using Ambit Config Tool?) firmware, you need to use telnet to set the BPI. Have a read of this thread. Alternatively, use Telnet to upgrade the modem to Haxorware. This makes things 100 times easier to alter settings (BPI, MACs etc).

im sorry im unsure on infinate fw i always presume people are using Haxoware, but im sure my answer is still correct i just don't know anything on any other firmware other than haxo.Blakey has posted a nice thread to read up on and im sure too also,it has me intrigued now.but if you can manage to get Haxo on there is alot easier changing things through the web Gui.

Hi Mate

I suggest you to have your modem checked with the company's service outlet. I think there is defect in the functioning of the modem.

As parricull said you're still live untill it wont even lock on sync or if you have TV its all dead since your getting the Vm page your still live. During a outage i seen what it was like to have a dead line you will know when you have been cut off from your logs VM will just not talk to you at all and you will be left in a scanning loop.
