Question Ethernet connector on rear of PACE Di4001N Box

I am a VM customer and have several boxes, 1 is a Pace Di4001N, it has an ethernet RJ45 connector on the rear panel.

Whats this for?
Can I connect it to my home network and would might I be able to do?
Would it allow be to control the box from a PC?
Would I be able to stream the TV to my PC?
Would I need a standard cable or a crossover cable if there is any benifit in doing so?

simple, you cant use it full stop

in the old old old days it was used to a router to give you 2mb internet in areas that could not have hard wired modems ( listed buildings and mostly london )
