Hi folks
I am on VM dsl and they supplied me with a poxy usb modem.I changed that to a d-link dsl 300t and added my belkin 4 port router...used the correct settings on the d-link and usernames when setting it all up and it works perfectly.I have a hold of a Tiscali branded siemens gigaset SE587 wireless modem now and wondered if I can use it instead of the above 2 devices.I can get log into the modem routers front end and enter my info but it all seems to be defaulting to tiscali settings and the online light stays red. Is there firmware that can unbrand the device so that its ready to act like a proper modem router |

DSL? That's cable isn't it? You cannot swap and change modems as the MAC address on your modem identifies you as a legitimate customer. If it was as simple as swapping modems, i'm pretty sure everybody would be doing it lol.

er adsl i meant not cable...I think it must be the firmware of the modem router being locked to tiscali.
I did manage to get the pc shop bought d-link modem working with my belkin 4 port in the 1st place thus replacing the crap usb modem they supplied me with. 192.168....blah username password pppoe and all that let me rephrase can i flash the tiscali siemens gigaset se 587 wlan dsl to get rid of the tiscali gui? In theory, yes. Do a search on the modem model and see what others have done.

thats a good idea....
I reckon its a standard siemens/broadcom model just flashed and renamed for tiscali. Near as I can guess after dismantling the thing its a standard chipset for the 5xxx series sold around the globe. I will bin it and hasstle vermin media for a free wifi modem router or they are getting the bin 2. LOL it gets thier goat up when u say talk talk(**** mongers that they are) can offer me the free router and a better deal... not that I would |

You can't put DD-WRT on it as it isn't supported but that would have worked a treat. You could have a look around on the internet for the original, factory firmware.
