I am seriously fed up with this ****. I haven't been capped for a few months but suddenly about a week ago I was capped. Since then I've been capped everyday without fail and to top it all off twice today. I don't think these fuckers ever allow you to obtain your full speed, seriously I was only downloading at full speed for 30mins max each time that the cap kicked in. I started at about 12:30pm and then at 1pm I notice the capping. Eventually at about 8:30pm it goes away and my download shoots back up to 10mb but after half an hour they started capping again.
Its time like these I regret buying into this year long contract just so they'd open the feed to my house. I originally planned to cancel within the allotted time but was having difficulties with my hacked modem at the time and the stability of the sub made me miss my opportunity. Does anyone know the actual policies they have in place? Because I was checking and all I could find was that they cap you if you download over 3.5Gb and the cap starts at 4pm-9pm. If this is there official terms its absolute lies as I get capped at any hour(even at 2am) and this morning I had only download about 750Mb before the first capping started. Virgin Media now have a special STM policy for those they consider are not using official equipment. They are waiting for you to phone up and complain so they can take action to resolve your situation.

On the 20Meg service you can hit the cap with full speed download after about 50 minutes during the daytime management period (10am-3pm) and about 20 minutes during the evening period (4pm-9pm). Once penalised then your stuck at low speed for 5 hours.
What you describe doesn't really sound like traffic management. I suspect its actually a mixture of management and a very high utilisation node. If its happening regularly then take evidence of your problem (use the VM download test site and do all the Pings/Tracert's etc) and contact VM support to find out what the problem is. If it is related to utilisation on your particular UBR then you will possibly qualify for partial refund of your monthly charge. http://allyours.virginmedia.com/html...t/traffic.html |

I have a 10MB sub myself which also gets capped to 2MB, it doesn't get lifted until like 2 or 3 in the morning. It's probably because you exceed the limit during the day so they extend the cap appropriately.

I am constantly downloading (and uploading for that matter) but I only get capped twice per day which is normal at 10AM - 3PM and then at 4PM - 9PM). As I said though, my afternoon/evening cap doesn't usually get lifted until around 2AM. I am using a 10MB clone at the moment which is running sweet at 10MB.

i would presume you could be on the 2mbit>10mbit tier. check your operational configuration and report back on the upload speed. the upgraded to 10 meg tier has the stm limits set at half of the limits on the proper 10meg tier. if your upload is 514000 id phone them up and for the sake of a quid tell them to upgrade you to L BB package. otherwise it could be heavy network usage, either upgrade to 20mbit in that case or try and get your CM to jump to another freq running in your area
