One of the channels I watch via satellite has just changed its frequency to the following:

    Frequency: 11916 Mhz

    Polarization: Vertical

    FEC: 3/4

    Symbol Rate: 30000 Ms/s

The problem is with the symbol rate. My satellite receiver measures the symbol rate by Ksps, which is five digits, and therefore I can't retune the receiver. What's the difference between Ms/s and Ksps? Can I convert Msyb/s to Ksps? What do I enter?

    Thanks in advance.

I did try google without results otherwise I wouldn't ask my question on here.
Thanks for your effort, I read the link but I still don't get it. English isn't my first language and I have some problems understanding such difficult explaining.

Im searching for the difference between Ms/s and ksps. I can't make that out of the link you put.

Have you tried entering the figure as 30000?

30000 Ms/s sounds way too big, I would think the actual figure is 30.0 Ms/s which tanslates to 30000 Ks/s. It's standard to have K = Thousand, M = Million

Thanks for your reply, I tried 30000 it says that there isn't a signal.
    The channel says that

    Frequency: 11.916 Mhz

    Symbol Rate: 30.000 Ms/s , I thought that 30000 was the same as 30.0 Ms/s.
I can enter 5 digits for the symbol rate, I tried 30000, 03000 and it won't work.
The symbol rate is measured in Ksps, from what you said I assume 30.0 Ms/s translates to 30000 Ks/s, is that the same as Ksps?

In the abbreviation for symbols per second, you can use a p or a / for the per. Have you checked on a site like Lyngsat to check the parameters of the transponder are correct.
