BenQ FP241WZ 24? LCD MonitorHDTV’s always makes us think of those 40-inch behemoths mounted on our home theaters with surround sound and vivid picture display. But every one should realize that HDTV’s come in all shapes and sizes. HDTV’s are not only limited to home theater/entertainment systems, but also for the office, bedroom or kitchen, wherever (and whenever) video entertainment is applicable.

The BenQ FP241WZ 24″ LCD Monitor fits the bill as it is a great crossover product combining one monitor for both TV and Computer. The melding provides a crossover that is as comfortable surfing the web and picture editing as it is watching an HD movie or battling evil villains on your favorite gaming consoles.

BenQ FP241WZ boasts as the first LCD monitor to incorporate AMA Z dynamic video processing technology. AMA Z heralds a new era for LCD monitors by eliminating ghosting and motion blur around the screen edges – for a clearly superior viewing experience with all types of video content. It is also a hybrid combining VGA and DVI inputs for your computer, as well as S-Video and HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) inputs that allow it to support for video resolutions of up to 1080p HD.

Given that, you can almost imagine that the FP241WZ is a computer monitor. But it is a legitimate high definition TV monitor. If you hook it up with a DVD player, the BenQ passed itself quite well as a 1080p HDTV giving it a dual purpose edge. Most HDTV’s are doing this but with the FP241WZ 24-inch stature, you might feel like you have a huge computer monitor in front of you.

BenQ FP241WZFurthermore, to make a case on this computer-monitor issue, the FP241WZ does not have a TV tuner, neither NTSC nor ATSC. So if you want to watch TV on this unit, you need to plug it into a set top box or use a portable TV tuner. But if you do feed a high definition television signal into it, the BenQ will display it in full resolution. You would also need to supplement the monitor with speakers as the FP241WZ does not have any. Ideally, a dedicated audio system would work very well for this setup.

The bottom line for everyone is definitely the quality of the picture. Without going outside your front door, you can enjoy the latest digital indulgence – like movies, photos, games and television. Moreover, the Senseye technology combined with the high contrast ratios allows the BenQ monitor to display rich and vibrant pitures that even overly criticizing viewers are satisfied.
