Elektrobit is planning to launch an affordable Windows Mobile 6.1 satellite phone in 2009, which will be in the same price range as regular cell phones.
Unlike earlier satellite phone, which had an obtrusive antenna, Elektrobit’s phone is a sleek, lightweight device which doesn’t feature an antenna at all. It measures just 4.7 x 2.5 x .8″ HWD.
The PDA-style, touch screen phone will run on HSDPA, quad-band GSM/EGPRS and satellite networks.
Other features include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, a MicroSD slot, a 3-megapixel camera and voice controls.
The phone is compatible with the Terrestar satellite network, which is due to be launched next year across North America.
