Motorola’s latest RAZR handset, the RAZR2 V9, will be available from mobile operator, 3UK, from 13 March.
The HSDPA enabled phone features a more powerful processor than earlier models and, like Apple‘s iPhone, it also has a touch sensitive, external screen. It also features a stainless steel casing.
3 UK has welcomed Motorola’a renewed emphasis on 3G handsets – the RAZR2 V9 is the first Motorola handset to be sold by 3 UK in 18 months.
Motorola has been criticised for failing move on from the RAZR design, and there is concern that the company is being overtaken by more innovative manufacturers.
According to industry analyst, Ovum, 3 UK is unlikely to experience a great deal of benefit from the Motorola deal, as the RAZR design will not have people rushing to buy the new version.
However, the deal will add another major name to 3UK’s portfolio. The company is supporting the launch of the model with a staff training programme, and Motorola staff will be available at certain UK stores to provide product advice.
