Plasma TV’s boast of realistic images and cohesive movements that LCD technology struggles to deliver. But recent advances in technology has eliminated these limitations. Using 100Hz technology, these constraints are virtually eradicated. Having 32-inch, 37-inch, and 42-inch screen sizes, all with 100Hz technology, Sharp’s Aquos RD2E series delivers quite a punch. The 100Hz technology increases refresh rate from the original 50Hz while eliminating pauses in between. This creates brighter pictures with more accuracy and fluid movement.
Normally, this technology was aimed at far more expensive units, but as technology progressed, it slowly trickled down towards reasonably priced models. Along with this, Sharp’s other video enhancing technology (like TrueD HD processing that reduces smearing and stuttered movements) has also filtered down to models that has a more affordable price.
What’s good about the Aquos RD2E series, first and foremost, is the design. The heavily lacquered black design resembles the more expensive units and comes with a discretely hidden speaker system beneath the frame. There is also a sturdy pedestal stand that can be turned to a more favorable position. Immediately, you will notice the difference in have LCD’s with 100Hz technology. With TV broadcasts and sports programs, movement is smoother and less blurred around the edges especially during fast-paced action scenes.
Digital programmes are accompanied by a fully featured EPG and extensive menu systems that are simple to use. There are some advanced picture settings including colour temperature control and a black level expander while audio features
include a surround mode and listening to sound without the picture – ideal for digital radio.
With high-definition content, images appear dense and detailed with impressive black levels that appear realistic without overwhelming dark scenes. Colours are evenly balanced with a penchant for natural tones and smooth gradations while movement is even more impressive than before.
For a very affordable price range of about £700, Sharp’s LC-32RD2E has impressive technical specifications that many lower-priced models can not claim. With the 100Hz technology featured in, you can be assured of smooth and brilliant picture quality that plasma TV’s are boasting.
