Vizio VM60P 60

Although Vizio is not as popular as its other established competitors, it is working its way to becoming a household name like Sony and Panasonic and continues to release products that seems economically impossible. Definitely one of the most noticeable characteristic for Vizio products is the price. It eliminated the idea spawned years ago that Plasma TV’s were toys for the wealthy. Now it seems that anyone and everyone can have the capacity to purchase one and enjoy it in the process.

Vizio VM60P

The Vizio VM60P is not really the most well-known brand of plasma television in the market. But it’s impressive picture and its surprisingly bright screen, combined with a price tag of under $3000, is definitely going to attract customers’ attention. Anyone who wants to enjoy the ultimate movie experience is sure to notice the gigantic measurement (60″) of this Plasma TV. It has a 1366 X 768 resolution and although it is a standard 720p it is capable of 1080p sources which it downscales to 720p. What’s more, it has 7,000:1 contrast ratio, a far cry from the 1500:1 range that most LCD’s are languishing nowadays.

The VM60P has a characteristically sleek new design. It has a much more streamlined and elegant design with bronzed-toned, brushed aluminum frame. Its 20W speaker is enclosed inside bezel below the screen. Its manual controls are located along the left side of the VM60P that allows you to toggle between inputs, change volume and channel and access onscreen menus or power it on and off. The only decoration in front is the illuminated VIZIO logo that glows to indicate whether it’s on standby, on or off.

Same as most HDTV’s in the market, most of the connectivity options are located at the back facing downward maintaining the sleek and, dare I say, futuristic look of the TV. Although it works well with style, the placements of these connectors provide an obstacle as it is difficult for a person to reach out around a five foot screen.

But at least, you are provided with a wide range of options with the VM60P sporting 4 HDMI inputs, standard analog video/audio inputs (two component video inputs, two composite or RCA inputs and two S-Video inputs, as well as RGB computer input and coaxial input). The VM60P has a single analog audio out, as well as an optical audio out (capable of 5.1 multi-channel audio output) and a headphone output via its mini-jack.

The VM60P also features an integrated NTSC/ATSC/QAM HDTV tuner and with the enormous 60″ screen, you can take full advantage of this feature when watching multiple programs at a time. You can even view multiple sources at one time via these options. Then, there’s the remote. HDTV’s in today’s generation is normally packaged with a remote wherein you can basically do everything in terms of configuring your unit. The VM60P is the same with a remote that is nearly identical to the remote of other Vizio televisions.

Vizio VM60P Multiple Screen

Unfortunately, this wonderful product does have a downside. With a mammoth 60″ screen, physically huge 179 pound frame, it is virtually a burden when you want to move it. If you plan on wall-mounting, but be sure that it secured safely and solidly as to avoid accidents.

As far as performance goes, Vizio boasts of its VIZIO ColorVision (VCV) technology which allows for true 10-bit levels and the ability to display 1 billion colors that will ensure a more vivid and natural picture. Finally, the 20W speaker will not rock your world as compared to external subwoofer and speaker systems. But, with the TruSurround XT, it adds three new audio enhancement technologies to complete your ultimate home theater experience with 2 speakers. Even at full volume, the speakers don’t rattle and the sound fidelity is good.

Overall, with a retail price just below $3000, the VM60P is another major achievement in both image quality and value for consumers of Vizio. There hasn’t been any product that can beat the affordability and enjoyment experienced with VM60P without shelling out a lot of cash. With its wide array of peripherals, you are surely equipped with the right tools to enjoy the ultimate video experience. Though the VM60P is not perfect, it will deliver the features that you need at a very good price.
