Following Apple’s unveiling of YouTube support for Apple TV, Endgadget has reported rumours of a partnership between Apple and AT&T that could bring IPTV capabilities to Apple TV from next year.

The two companies have been planning to partner over the iPhone, but it seems that this relationship could now be extended to IPTV, to the benefit of both companies.

Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO, discussed Apple TV at the D: All Things Digital conference this week, describing the product as a DVD player for the internet age. He corrected his interviewer who had called it a set-top box.

Apple could easily turn its TV streamer into an IPTV box.

It was at this conference that Jobs revealed a software upgrade to the Apple TV that will give access to YouTube videos through its Internet connection.
