DVR manufacturers charge too much for storage

CCTV company, Acam Technology, surveyed 150 installers and uncovered widespread dissatisfaction with hard disk drive (HDD) pricing policies operated by DVR manufacturers.

Over 85 per cent of the installers felt that the commonly used system of charging for HDDs based on storage capacity, rather than market value of hardware, was unfair.

Over 60 per cent of those surveyed also expressed disappointment with the quality of the drives used in the DVRs.

Acam operates an HDD Honesty Policy which ensures prices for storage options are based on hardware costs and not on storage capacity alone.
