The Royal Borough of Maidenhead is considering plans to upgrade its CCTV system to digital with an investment of around £400,000.

The move follows the addition of 56 CCTV cameras in 2006, to the existing £2.6m network, when a new Sainsbury’s development added 42 cameras in Hines Meadow car park and four in the piazza.

This investment increased the number of cameras on the network from 58 to 104.

The Royal Borough has recorded a drop in the number of arrests as a result of CCTV across the borough, and is now planning to add more cameras as part of the upgrade to digital.
