According to the managing director of Gemtek Technology, Kevin Yang, the network equipment manufacturer and the Taiwan based broadband wireless provider, SparkLAN Communications, have teamed up to test the business pool of emerging markets within the Middle East and South America.
Yang said that Gemtek will be supplying broadband wireless devices to SparkLAN and will be obtaining a stake in SparkLAN in a bid to promote improved collaboration between the companies. Gemtek has no intention of engaging in any branded product operations at this time.
Market sources have been quick to point out SparkLAN’s strategic movements within emerging markets, which have included production of dual-band 802.11n routers which utilize WLAN chips from Taiwan based Ralink whilst continuing good standing with Atheros Communications
At CeBIT 2008, SparkLAN has on display their new 802.11n Draft 2.0-compatible 2.4G/5GHz dual-band Mini-PCI products which have been built using Atheros’ XSPAN Mini-PCI reference design.
