According to notebook manufacturers, Intel is planning to release another IGP chipset for the announced Centrino 2 (Montevina). Intel have already released specifications on their GM45, GS45, and GL40, and now are to add the GM47 which is to be a cross over of the performance and entry-level models.

Those same sources have released the specifications for the GM47, which includes a built in GMA X4500HD graphics card as with the GM45, however the GM47 will have a higher core frequency of 640MHz. DirectX 10 and Shader Model 4.0 will be supported as will DVI and Display Ports, and HDMI will be built in.

Sources state there is to be a non-IGP, the PM45, also. Each of the new hardware pieces will pair with Intel’s ICH9m southbridge technology.

Though not yet confirmed by Intel, sources have said that Intel will be expanding their Turbo Memory technology in the Centrino 2 hardware line so as to not only serve as a cache for Windows Vista’s ReadyBoost and ReadyDrive, but to also allow a solid state drive for extra storage.

No comment has been made by Intel, as they stand by policy to not speak on unannounced items.
