AMD has circulated a press release today, which lists the details of a group of new Phenom-based CPUs from the company. Included is the triple-core Phenom X3 8000 series processor, which is an energy efficient desktop model, the Phenom X4 9100e processor as well as the quad-core X4 9000 series processor.

According to the release, the Phenom X3 8400, and 8600 processors have higher performance than other dual-cores, whilst using single-thread applications and the processors have the same scaling capabilities as many quad-cores. The triple-cores are meant for multitasking and multi-thread applications, along with the X4 quad-core machines.

AMD are really striving for a greener computer, with their X4 9100e processors which have many of AMD’s cutting edge energy saving techniques, such as Cool’n'Quiet 2.0, Coolcore technology, a new innovation which allows the computer to turn off those parts of the processor not in use, and yet turn them back on as soon as they are required.

Independent Dynamic Core Technology is also included, which dramatically reduces power consumption by allowing each core to individually alter frequency and power usage, taking into account which is in use at any given time.

A split power design is part of the Dual Dynamic Power Management system, which means that the cores can each alter voltage usesage depending on processor and memory usage.

Wideband Frequency Control allows for more streamlined transitions which also reduces power usage, and Multi-Point Thermal Control which is a complex new silicon design which is intended to reduce the speed, and therefore reduce heat, when any of the cores go above pre-set temperature limits.

Because the Phenom quad-cores are designed to specifically work as individual cores, in concert, they allow for lower bandwidth barriers, and turbo charge with high definition.

Buyers will have the option of using the AMD Phenom X4 processors 9550 (2.2GHz) and 9650 (2.3GHz), or can use two higher frequency processors which allows for stronger multi-tasking, which will be the the AMD Phenom X4 9750 (2.4GHz) and AMD Phenom X4 9850 Black Edition (2.5GHz) processors.
