Velocix and MediaMelon have entered into a partnership to deliver high definition video on behalf of content owners, with a consistent performance and uninterrupted viewing

Cambridge-based Velocix provides the world’s leading Digital Asset Delivery Network, while MediaMelon offers a leading HD Video Delivery Network which provides easy access to content over the Internet.

The partnership utilises MediaMelon’s innovative internet delivery service, and combines Peer to Peer (P2P) and network caching, in order to eliminate interruptions to HD video viewing.

The solution overcomes the problem of the varying delivery performance offered by P2P, which provides excellent quality when delivering popular content, but a significantly poorer performance when delivering less popular content because there are fewer ‘peers’ sharing the video.

Velocix specialises in delivery services for large digital assets, including high definition video, and the Velocix Network cache delivery evens out the dips in bandwidth associated with standard P2P-only solutions.

Combining the Velocix cache delivery technology with MediaMelon’s set of higher-layer network services and browser web-links, allows content publishers to offer HD videos from a variety of websites, with consistent performance anywhere in the world. The solution also minimises delivery costs.
